The Telecommunications Division oversees the regulation of
telecommunications service in Alabama, including incumbent local
exchange carriers, the traditional providers of local phone service, and
their competitors, competitive local exchange carriers. Long distance providers, both interexchange carriers and toll
resale companies, and providers of pay phone service, hotel/motel telephone service, and
shared tenant phone service also fall under the APSC's jurisdiction. The
APSC does not regulate cellular telephone service.
This division is composed of the Economic Analysis and
Compliance, Service Analysis and Compliance, and Special Services Compliance
sections. |
