The Alabama Public Service Commission regulates private investor-owned companies providing electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications services in Alabama. Regulated utilities include Alabama Power Co., Alabama Gas Corp., Mobile Gas Service Corp., BellSouth Telecommunications, CenturyTel, and a host of smaller companies that provide local and/or long distance phone service.

Please note that the APSC does not regulate electric cooperatives, interstate pipelines, sewer services, most water companies/authorities, municipal utilities, wireless services, cable TV systems, or the Tennessee Valley Authority. Therefore, it does not have power to resolve complaints concerning them.
